Planting Becomes A Winery
In 1840, Don Felipe De la Mata planted the first vineyards at Hacienda Pradolagar. The family vineyard remained the base for a later decision by Pelayo de la Mata and his brothers. In 1989, they built the winery on the family estate in Rioja Alta, turning the earlier plantings into the home of the modern operation. The winery stands among those vineyards in the Ebro Valley area known as Tres Marqueses. The house follows a French château model, making Reservas and Gran Reservas from grapes grown in its own nearby vineyard.

The Producer
