The story
When Cadus Was Created
In 1996, Louis Jadot partnered with Tonnellerie Vicard to create its own cooperage, Cadus. A cooperage makes oak barrels for wine ageing. Oak barrels allow gradual oxygen contact and can contribute wood derived aromas and flavour, so barrel production affects a wine before it reaches the cellar's ageing schedule. The new Cadus operation placed a named barrel producer inside the Maison's own work. The partnership connected Louis Jadot's Burgundy vineyard holdings to the making of oak barrels used in wine ageing.
