Frédéric Barnier joined Louis Jadot in 2010 as Technical Director, working under Jacques Lardière, who had been responsible for winemaking and bottling for 42 years. Pierre-Henry Gagey served as President from 1992 until retirement in 2023, and his son Thibault Gagey currently serves as Managing Director. Maison Louis Jadot combines négociant sourced wines with Domaine Gagey parcels from Gagey family holdings. The cellar uses long macerations, wild yeast fermentation when possible and vintage led decisions on cask time and new oak.

The story
The Assistant Becomes Director
In 1954, André Gagey joined Louis Jadot as assistant to Louis Auguste Jadot. Eight years later, Louis Auguste died without surviving heirs besides his wife. André Gagey was appointed Managing Director. He had entered the house in a supporting role, then took charge after the sudden death of the man he had assisted. The succession moved Louis Jadot from Louis Auguste's generation to André Gagey's management in one decision made in 1962.

Chardonnay Bourgogne is the core white, made from 100% Chardonnay selected from growers in Mâconnais and Côte Chalonnaise. Its nose brings green apple, pear, crushed stone and floral notes, followed by bright citrus and slight tropical notes of apricot and pineapple. Partial oak ageing is part of its élevage.
Beaune 1er Cru Aux Cras under the Domaine Gagey label gives the range a named Premier Cru bottling. Premier Cru identifies a named vineyard level in Burgundy, more specific than a regional Bourgogne wine. Aux Cras leads with fine floral aromatics, then minerals and earth emerge from dark fruitiness, with great acidity.
