Notable facts

The story

From Olives To Vines

In 1956, an olive freeze transformed the agricultural economy of Roaix and Séguret, making both communes essentially viticultural. Four years later, winemakers from the two villages formed Les Vignerons de Roaix Seguret. The cooperative's founding followed the shift from olive growing to wine, and its name joined the two communes at the moment of formation. The union was established in 1960, when the winemakers of Roaix and Séguret created their shared cooperative.

The Producer

Winemakers from Séguret and Roaix formed Les Vignerons de Roaix Seguret in 1960. The cooperative's range covers red, rosé and white styles, with Grenache noir at the centre of its red and rosé wines and Grenache Blanche with Roussane in the white. Roaix Le Rouge received one star from Guide Hachette in 2021.

Place

Roaix and Séguret are the two villages named by the cooperative. Their soils include argilo-calcareous ground, gravelly terraces and slopes of decalcified red clay. Clay and limestone can combine water holding with drainage, while gravelly terraces shed water and warm quickly. Decalcified red clay can retain moisture through dry spells and give red wines a fuller mouthfeel.

Wines

The range covers red, rosé and white wines. Roaix Le Rouge is the Roaix red, with ripe fruit, pepper and violet on the nose. Rasteau sec is a dry Rasteau wine with a full body, fruit and floral notes, and white pepper. Les Remparts des Ceps Dorés Rosé is a 2025 Côtes du Rhône rosé at 12.5% ABV, composed of 50% Grenache, 40% Cinsault and 10% Syrah. Its berry notes include strawberry, peach, herbs, raspberry and rhubarb. The white wine uses equal parts Grenache Blanche and Roussane.

Final Word

Les Vignerons de Roaix Seguret joins two village names in one cooperative range. Grenache noir leads the red and rosé wines, while Grenache Blanche and Roussane form the white.
