In March 2018, Saskia de Rothschild moved into her father Éric de Rothschild's position at Domaines Barons de Rothschild. She was 30, and her route to the role had passed through a dual degree from HEC Paris and the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, followed by a master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. The appointment made her the youngest person leading a Premier Grand Cru Bordeaux estate. Three years later, in 2021, she became chief executive officer and director general of the winery.

Éric de Rothschild directed the estate from 1974 to 2018. His daughter Saskia succeeded him in 2018, bringing a new generation into the leadership of a First Growth château. In 2021, she became chief executive officer and director general of the winery, extending the succession from a change of chair into the group's present management.
