The story
A Marriage At Five
On June 30, 1841, at exactly five o'clock in the morning, Amédé Labouré married Philippine Roi. The ceremony is given as the founding moment of the house, joining the surnames that became Labouré-Roi. Amédé Labouré's dates are recorded as 1812 to 1884. The founding record preserves the hour as carefully as the date, so the beginning of the name arrives with a precise time, a marriage, and the names Labouré and Roi. Labouré-Roi still carries both names as its public house name today.
