From Teaching To Allende
In 1986, Miguel Ángel de Gregorio was teaching at Madrid University when he went to Briones to study how local winegrowers farmed. The visit drew him toward the area's terroir. In 1995, he began Allende with nine hectares of vines, and the first Allende was vinified that year. The project became the family property he runs with his sister Mercedes. De Gregorio is now its owner and winemaker, with the estate's work centered on vineyard based wines from Rioja.

Finca Allende is based at Plaza de Ibarra in Briones, in Rioja Alta. Its vineyards lie in Briones and neighbouring villages on the right bank of the Ebro. The area is characterized by northerly exposures, red clay topsoils and gravel substrates.
