Al MacDonald's 1984 Planting
In 1984, Al MacDonald planted Seven Springs on the eastern slopes of the Eola-Amity Hills. Planting a vineyard creates a long term farming commitment, with the rows staying in one place while seasons change around them. Seven Springs has been dry farmed since its inception, with the vines growing without routine irrigation. Daily cooling and the eastern aspect extend the grapes' time on the vine.
