The story
The Meeting with Anthony Tortul
In 2010, Jean-Louis Pinto met Anthony Tortul of La Sorga, who became his mentor and friend. Tortul introduced him to living wines, and Pinto became inspired by natural winemaking. That meeting led to the founding of Es d'Aqui. The name came from Spanish, where Es d'Aqui means “from here”. Pinto tied the phrase to his mission of keeping terroir as the guiding principle of his winemaking. Es d'Aqui now works from Limoux and sources grapes from selected organic and biodynamic vineyards across Languedoc.

The Producer
Jean-Louis Pinto is an Ariège native who works from a small estate in Limoux. Es d'Aqui sources grapes from selected organic and biodynamic vineyards across Languedoc, and its name translates from Spanish as “from here”. Pinto keeps terroir as the guiding principle, meaning the character of the vineyard and grapes stays at the centre of the wines.
His vinification is intuition led, with decisions guided by his understanding of the land and grapes instead of a rigid methodology. The approach grew from his inspiration by living wines and natural winemaking.
Place
Limoux is the base, and Languedoc supplies the selected vineyard sources. The wines draw on several vineyard origins across the region, with organic and biodynamic farming attached to the grapes Pinto chooses.
Wines
Es d'Aqui's range includes red and white wines. The named red wines are Paloma and M&M Rouge Es D'Aqui; Orange Mauzanic and MM Blanc are white wines.
M&M Rouge is more refined than previous vintages. Orange Mauzanic is lively and nervous, with a smoky side and notes of exotic fruits and citrus. It works as an aperitif and with fish, shellfish, and white meat.
Final Word
Es d'Aqui is Pinto's Limoux base for wines made from selected organic and biodynamic Languedoc vineyards. The name translates as “from here”, and Pinto uses terroir as the guiding principle of his intuition led vinification.
