The story

The Family Starts Bottling

In 2005, Jesús and Ruth Fernández represented the eighth generation of the Fernández winegrowing family when they chose to press and bottle the family's own grapes. Their sister Cristina Fernández was part of the three sibling initiative that became Dominio de Punctum. The decision moved the family from growing grapes into making wine under its own project. The wines remained based on grapes grown exclusively by the Fernández family, with the harvest moving from vineyard to press and bottle within the same family enterprise.

The Producer

Ruth Fernández studied viticulture and oenology at the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid before beginning her career in Languedoc. She is now Dominio de Punctum's oenologist and production director, handling the technical work behind a family estate in Cuenca province.

Cristina Fernández is the CFO and a Demeter Farmer in Vineyard and Wine Producer in Cuenca. The estate's wines use grapes grown exclusively by the Fernández family. All of the wines are organic, biodynamic and vegan, placing farming and production under one stated system.

Place

The vineyards lie in Cuenca province under a continental Mediterranean climate. The estate places its vineyards at roughly 700 to 800 metres above sea level. That elevation can lengthen ripening while helping grapes retain freshness, especially in a warm continental setting.

The range carries the VdlT Castilla designation. Its three principal bottles cover red, rosé and white wine, with the grape varieties changing from one colour to the next.

Soil And Site

Clay limestone soils combine the water holding capacity of clay with the drainage associated with limestone. Under a continental Mediterranean climate, that balance supports ripening while preserving freshness. Grapes from these vineyards have flavor, freshness and intensity.

Story

Jesús, Ruth and Cristina Fernández began Dominio de Punctum with a shared aim to make wines that cared for the ecosystem and the palate. The project extends that choice into the winery itself. The winery uses entirely renewable energy, recycles all winery water, and has installed solar panels. The estate is pursuing carbon neutrality certification and supports reforestation programs.

Vineyards And Cellar

The producer uses no chemicals in either the field or the winery. Its biodynamic practices include following lunar cycles, applying natural preparations, and encouraging biodiversity among the vines. These are direct farming choices, with work timed by the lunar calendar and vineyard life treated as part of the growing system.

Solo Vino Tempranillo Organic was spontaneously fermented in stainless steel, then rested for a time in American oak. No sulfur was added during vinification or before bottling. Stainless steel preserves the grape's direct fruit character, while American oak adds contact with wood and oxygen during the period of ageing.

Wines

The range moves across three colours. Solo Vino Tempranillo Organic 2024 is the red, made from Tempranillo. 99 Rosas Rosé Organic 2025 is a blend of 90% Bobal and 10% Garnacha. 99 Rosas Sauvignon Blanc Chardonnay 2025 is a white made from Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Viura.

The red is a single grape wine, while both 99 Rosas bottles combine several grape varieties. The labels therefore move from a named Tempranillo to blends built around different colour and aromatic profiles.

In The Glass

Solo Vino Tempranillo Organic is fruity, with wild raspberry, lingonberry and cherry alongside lavender and rosemary. The fruit gives the red its central character, while the herbal notes keep the aroma away from simple jamminess.

The 99 Rosas rosé is very fruity and youthful, with white peach, strawberry and blood orange. Its profile is immediate and fresh, built around red fruit and citrus rather than oak.

The 99 Rosas white is pale light yellow. Pear, white flowers, honeydew melon and green apple appear in the aroma, while pineapple joins the palate. The wine stays in a bright, fruit led register.

A Bottle To Understand It

Solo Vino Tempranillo Organic is the first bottle to open. It is the range's single grape red, with Tempranillo named directly on the label. The wine sits beside two blended 99 Rosas bottles, so the range can be read from one variety before moving to combinations of Bobal, Garnacha, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Viura.
