The story
The First Borie Cellars
In 1886, Eugène and Émile Borie rented cellars in Pauillac and began building the family's Médoc wine business. Bordeaux merchants concentrated on the British market, while the two brothers specialised in shipments to Normandy, northern France and especially Belgium. Their trade linked Pauillac to markets beyond Britain before the family established itself as proprietors. They began with rented space, then moved into ownership.
