The story
From Piedmont To First Wine
In 1931, Francis Usseglio left Piedmont, Italy, and settled in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. He spent more than fifteen years working in the fields before securing a sharecropping farm in 1948. In 1949, he produced his first wine. His first wine came eight years after he settled there. The family operation later moved into a domaine founded by his son Raymond and Danielle in 1963. The sequence joins migration, sharecropping and estate winemaking across three dates: 1931, 1948 and 1949.

The estate works across Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes du Rhône and IGP vines, with biodynamic methods used across the Châteauneuf holdings. At the domaine, biodynamics centres on respect for the earth and natural cycles. All wines carry Demeter and Biodyvin organic and biodynamic certification labels.
