The story
Eight Generations, Two Roles
Since 1712, eight generations of the Desvignes family have succeeded one another in Beaujolais. The current handover brought siblings Claude-Emmanuelle and Louis-Benoît Desvignes into leadership after their father, Louis-Claude. Claude-Emmanuelle handles administration, while Louis-Benoît spends more time in the vineyard. That division gives each sibling a defined daily role, with office work on one side and vineyard management on the other. Both now lead Domaine Louis-Claude Desvignes. The current leadership is based at 135 Rue de la Voûte in Villié-Morgon.

The Producer
Claude-Emmanuelle and Louis-Benoît Desvignes now lead Domaine Louis-Claude Desvignes after succeeding their father, Louis-Claude. Claude-Emmanuelle handles administration, while Louis-Benoît focuses on vineyard management.
The domaine cultivates 10.2 hectares, all within the Morgon appellation. Since 2005, it has practiced organic viticulture through mechanical cultivation and hand work. By 2008, ploughing covered all the vineyards, with work carried out as far as possible without phytosanitary products. In 2018, Bettane+Desseauve placed the domaine among its Top 10 producers of the year.
Place
The domaine is located at 135 Rue de la Voûte in Villié-Morgon. Its holdings are divided among three parcels: Douby, more than 5 hectares; Côte du Py, about 2.5 hectares; and Javernières, about 2.5 hectares.
The parcel names narrow the geography from the Morgon appellation to three vineyard addresses. Vinification takes place parcel by parcel, so Douby, Côte du Py and Javernières enter the cellar as separate lots.
Wines
The range includes Morgon Javernières and Les Impénitents. Morgon Javernières offers kirsch and soft spice on the nose, with a rounded palate, delicate tannins and a long spiced finish. Les Impénitents occupies a longer ageing position, with some cuvées reaching 17 months in concrete while the domaine's wines generally spend around 10 months in concrete vats on fine lees.
Parcel specific vinifications use whole bunches or partial destemming, maximum 50%, with a vatting period of 10 to 15 days. Whole bunches leave stems in the vat, and stems can add spice and tannin. Partial destemming reduces that stem contribution. Fine lees are the yeast sediment left after fermentation, and ageing on them can add rounder texture and savoury depth. Concrete contributes no oak flavour.
Final Word
Claude-Emmanuelle and Louis-Benoît Desvignes continue the family domaine through separate administrative and vineyard responsibilities. The wines carry Morgon's named parcels into concrete vat ageing on fine lees.
