Domaine Guyon makes red wines from Vosne-Romanée, Savigny-lès-Beaune and other named Burgundy appellations, alongside white wines from Nuits-Saint-Georges and Morey-Saint-Denis. The range moves from Bourgogne Rouge through village and Premier Cru wines to Échezeaux Grand Cru and Clos Vougeot Grand Cru.
Jean-Pierre Guyon began organic viticulture in 2006, and the domaine achieved ECOCERT organic certification in 2012. In the cellar, he employs whole bunch fermentation and keeps sulfur intervention minimal, typically holding sulphites until spring unless the wine needs them earlier.
Place
The appellation names carry the range from a regional Burgundy red to village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines. Vosne-Romanée appears in Les Charmes de Mazières, En Orveaux Premier Cru and Les Brûlées Premier Cru. Savigny-lès-Beaune contributes Les Peillets Premier Cru, while Échezeaux and Clos Vougeot carry Grand Cru status.

Story
Jean-Pierre Guyon decided to begin working organically in 2006. The change moved the domaine's vineyard farming toward organic practice, and in 2012 the estate achieved ECOCERT organic certification. The two dates mark a farming decision followed by formal recognition, while the wines continue to be made through whole bunch fermentation and minimal sulfur intervention.
Vineyards And Cellar
Guyon employs whole bunch fermentation, leaving the stems with the grapes during fermentation. Stems can add perfume, spice and tannic grip, giving the wine a more textured shape than fully destemmed fruit. The practice appears across a range that includes village wines, Premier Crus and Grand Crus.
Sulphites are typically held until spring. Guyon can add them earlier when he feels the wine needs them, keeping the intervention responsive to the condition of each wine instead of following a fixed date.
Wines
Bourgogne Rouge is the regional red in the range. Chorey-lès-Beaune Les Bons Ores is marked by 80% centenarian vines. Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru Les Peillets and the Vosne-Romanée wines add named village and Premier Cru levels.
The highest red tier includes Échezeaux Grand Cru and Clos Vougeot Grand Cru, both wines with concentration and firm shape. White wines appear as Nuits-Saint-Georges Blanc Les Argillats and Morey-Saint-Denis Blanc La Bidaude, giving the domaine a white counterpart to its red Burgundy range.
In The Glass
The red wines open in a strongly red-fruited register, with raspberry, red cherry, black cherry, plum and redcurrant across the appellations. Floral notes recur in Vosne-Romanée En Orveaux Premier Cru, Les Brûlées Premier Cru and Échezeaux, while Clos Vougeot adds herb notes to its sour cherry and plum.
Les Charmes de Mazières has a rounded, silky palate with grainy grip. Les Peillets is vivid and crunchy, Chorey-lès-Beaune Les Bons Ores is soft and velvety, and En Orveaux is bright with a fresh palate. Échezeaux is seamless, while Les Brûlées is smoothly textured. Bourgogne Rouge has a savoury edge and fine detail.
The white wines move in different directions. Nuits-Saint-Georges Blanc Les Argillats brings ripe pear, peach, spice and mineral notes, combining richness with freshness. Morey-Saint-Denis Blanc La Bidaude carries apple, pear and nut, with a slight oxidative character and a rounded palate.
A Bottle To Understand It
Put Bourgogne Rouge first. It is the regional red in the range, before the named village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines. The label keeps the place broad, allowing the appellation hierarchy to be read through the bottles that follow: Chorey-lès-Beaune and Savigny-lès-Beaune, then Vosne-Romanée, Échezeaux and Clos Vougeot.
Anecdote
Portuguese winemaker Dirk Niepoort made a wine in Burgundy with Jean-Pierre Guyon. A collaborative wine puts two winemakers around the same fruit, fermentation and ageing decisions, even when the final wine belongs to one place. Here the place was Burgundy. Guyon is otherwise represented by wines from Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Morey-Saint-Denis, including village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru bottlings. Niepoort's name enters the producer's story through this Burgundy wine, made with Guyon.
