Domaine Albert de Conti

Domaine Albert de Conti is a 30 hectare organically certified estate in Saint-Julien-Innocence-Eulalie, in Bergerac, created in 2021 by Albert de Conti's grandsons Guillaume and Paul with winemaker Yann Lecoindre.

The producer

Based in Saint-Julien-Innocence-Eulalie in the heart of Bergerac, Domaine Albert de Conti farms 30 hectares of organically certified vineyards. Guillaume and Paul de Conti created the domaine with winemaker Yann Lecoindre in 2021 after five years of shared work in the vineyard and cellar. The wider range carries Bergerac, Bergerac Rosé, Bergerac Sec and Côtes de Bergerac AOC labels, alongside named bottles in red, white and lightly sparkling styles.

La Vigne d'Albert is a red blend of Périgord, also called Mérille, Abouriou, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Côt and Fer, with a crunchy, fresh, supple and light palate. Cuvée des Conti is a white with aromatic complexity, ripe fruit flavours, roundness and liveliness; frost reduced the 2022 crop and concentrated the fruit. Pétillant Naturel has pretty bubbles, very little alcohol and fresh fruitiness, made by direct pressing, partial fermentation in stainless steel, natural carbonation in bottle and no added sulfites.

Known for

A Bergerac range that moves from the crunchy, fresh red blend La Vigne d'Albert to Cuvée des Conti's rounded and lively white, alongside a Pétillant Naturel with very little alcohol and natural bottle carbonation.

Notable facts

The story

From Italy to Saint-Julien

In 1925, Vincenzo and Clorinda de Conti arrived from Italy in southwest France with their five children and settled in Ribagnac. Albert, the youngest son, was among them. The next recorded move came in 1963, when Albert and his wife Odette moved to the village of Saint-Julien d'Eymet. That puts two dates beside two locations: Vincenzo and Clorinda with their children in Ribagnac in 1925, then Albert and Odette in Saint-Julien d'Eymet thirty-eight years later. The move was from the family's first French settlement to another village, and it was Albert who made it. In 1963, Albert moved with his wife Odette to Saint-Julien d'Eymet.

At A Glance

Domaine Albert de Conti is a 30 hectare organically certified estate in Saint-Julien-Innocence-Eulalie, in the Bergerac region of southwest France. Guillaume and Paul de Conti, grandsons of Albert de Conti, created the domaine with winemaker Yann Lecoindre in 2021 after five years of shared vineyard and cellar work. The range includes Bergerac, Bergerac Rosé, Bergerac Sec and Côtes de Bergerac AOC wines, alongside La Vigne d'Albert, Cuvée des Conti and a Pétillant Naturel.

The Producer

A family migration that began in Italy in 1925 now has a new estate name in Bergerac. Domaine Albert de Conti brings together Albert's grandsons Guillaume and Paul with Yann Lecoindre, who worked together for five years before creating the domaine in 2021. The estate farms 30 hectares in organic production, giving the new name a substantial vineyard base.

The bottles cover several forms of Bergerac wine. La Vigne d'Albert is a red blend with an unusually broad list of regional grapes, Cuvée des Conti is a white with ripe fruit, roundness and liveliness, and Pétillant Naturel is lightly sparkling, low in alcohol and naturally carbonated in bottle. The named bottles sit alongside the confirmed Bergerac appellation range without an assigned hierarchy between them.

Place

Saint-Julien-Innocence-Eulalie lies in the heart of Bergerac, where Domaine Albert de Conti presents wines under Bergerac, Bergerac Rosé, Bergerac Sec and Côtes de Bergerac AOC names. Those labels mark different bottle styles before the cork or crown cap is removed: red, rosé, dry white and the broader Côtes de Bergerac category. The estate's named cuvées add a more personal vocabulary to that regional framework.

The place also keeps the range open to several grape choices. La Vigne d'Albert uses Périgord, Abouriou, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Côt and Fer, while the white and sparkling wines carry their own distinct palate descriptions. Bergerac here is presented through bottle character as much as appellation wording.

Soil And Site

The estate's confirmed physical setting is its 30 hectares in Saint-Julien-Innocence-Eulalie. A supported soil profile, elevation and exposure details are not available, so the wines are best understood through their grapes, appellation names and cellar methods rather than an asserted mineral signature.

That limit keeps the bottle reading concrete. The red is defined by its mixed regional blend and light palate, the white by ripe fruit and a rounded, lively mouth, and the Pétillant Naturel by bottle carbonation, little alcohol and fresh fruitiness.

Story

Vincenzo and Clorinda de Conti arrived in southwest France from Italy in 1925 with their five children and settled in Ribagnac. Their youngest son Albert later moved with his wife Odette to Saint-Julien d'Eymet in 1963, bringing the family line closer to the place where the current estate is based.

The present domaine came together through five years of work by Guillaume, Paul and Yann in the vineyard and cellar. In 2021, they formalised that partnership as Domaine Albert de Conti. The change was practical as well as familial: the work moved under a named estate with 30 hectares of organically certified vines and a range that includes red, white and lightly sparkling bottles.

Vineyards And Cellar

Organic farming covers 30 hectares already in production. The estate's most distinctive grape statement appears in La Vigne d'Albert, a red blend of Périgord, also called Mérille, Abouriou, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Côt and Fer. That wide blend gives the wine a deliberately light palate profile, marked by crunch, freshness, suppleness and lightness.

Pétillant Naturel takes a different path in the cellar. The grapes are directly pressed, partly fermented in stainless steel vats, then complete their natural carbonation in bottle, with no added sulfites. The method leaves a lightly sparkling wine with pretty little bubbles, very little alcohol, lively movement and very fresh fruitiness.

Wines

La Vigne d'Albert is the red of the range. Its blend joins Périgord, Abouriou, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Côt and Fer, and its stated palate is crunchy, fresh, supple and light in weight. It is built for early drinking, with a suggested window of two to four years.

Cuvée des Conti is the white. Its profile centres on aromatic complexity, ripe fruit flavours and a mouth that combines roundness with liveliness. In the 2022 vintage, frost reduced the crop and helped concentrate the ripe fruit, with ripe Sémillon seeming to dominate the taste. Its stated drinking window is three to five years.

Pétillant Naturel is the lightly sparkling bottle. Pretty little bubbles, very little alcohol, liveliness and fresh fruitiness define its role in the range. Direct pressing, partial fermentation in stainless steel and natural carbonation in bottle keep the wine bright, light in weight and immediately approachable.

In The Glass

The range moves from fresh fruit and aromatic lift to a fuller white palate and a light sparkling finish. La Vigne d'Albert rises with a crunchy impression, then feels supple and light across the mouth because its mixed red blend is presented without heaviness. Cuvée des Conti brings more aromatic complexity and ripe fruit, followed by roundness held in place by liveliness. Pétillant Naturel begins with small bubbles, carries very little alcohol through the palate, and finishes with fresh fruitiness and lively movement from its natural bottle carbonation.

A Bottle To Understand It

Start with La Vigne d'Albert. It is a red blend of Périgord, Abouriou, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Côt and Fer, made in a style that feels crunchy, fresh, supple and light in weight. The bottle gives the clearest taste of the estate's regional grape palette without asking for long ageing, and its two to four year drinking window keeps the fruit and lightness at the centre. It is the right first bottle when the aim is to understand the estate through its grapes and palate shape.

Anecdote

In 1925, Vincenzo and Clorinda de Conti arrived from Italy in southwest France with their five children, carrying the family into a new country and settling in Ribagnac. Their youngest son was Albert. Decades later, in 1963, Albert moved with his wife Odette to the charming village of Saint-Julien d'Eymet. The two journeys mark a simple change of place across one family line: Vincenzo and Clorinda began in Italy, established themselves in Ribagnac, and Albert then moved with Odette to Saint-Julien d'Eymet in 1963.

Final Word

Domaine Albert de Conti gives Bergerac three distinct shapes: a light and crunchy red blend, a ripe and lively white, and a very fresh Pétillant Naturel with little alcohol. Its family history reaches back to an Italian arrival in 1925, while the estate itself took its present form in 2021 through Guillaume, Paul and Yann's shared work across 30 organic hectares.
