In 1971, Christian Moueix acquired Château La Grave à Pomerol. It was his first vineyard purchase. The property comprises 8 hectares planted to 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. The soil is gravel with light clay and sand, and the terroir is almost pure gravel. The estate sits on the western side of the plateau of Pomerol. Its gravelly soils contribute poise and linearity to the wine. Annual production is approximately 3,500 cases.
