Evidence-limited registry profile
In 1982 Henri Martin bought Château Saint-Pierre outright — a Fourth Classified Growth, and one of the entries on the 1855 list that Gloria had never appeared on. Saint-Pierre had changed hands several times over the preceding decades and its vineyard had been partly absorbed by neighbouring properties; the estate was not in the condition its classification implied. Martin paid to reconstitute it, locating and recovering the scattered parcels and returning the vineyard to working order. He chose to vinify Saint-Pierre as a distinct estate under its own label rather than folding the fruit into Gloria. By the following vintage the two châteaux sat alongside each other in the commune — one bearing a fourth-growth classification, one bearing none — both managed by the same family, both drawn from deep Günzian gravel on the left bank of the Gironde.
