Moving north to Rivera in 1975 meant opening country that no Uruguayan wine producer had planted commercially.

Quico Carrau Pujol carried that move, armed with the UC Davis analysis that had identified Cerro Chapeu two years earlier. The decision to build there was already made on scientific conviction. What followed was construction: in 1997, the family completed a winery that expressed the same conviction in concrete and stone.
